Censis, UniTrento places first among medium-sized universities

For the second year in a row, the University of Trento leads the ranking of universities with 10,000 to 20,000 students. And gets the highest score among State universities for internationalization

The Censis ranking of Italian Universities, now in its twenty-fourth edition, has just been published. Every year, in July, Censis publishes a detailed analysis of the Italian university system based on a number of indicators such as services, scholarships, facilities, communication and digital services, the level of internationalisation and employability. The final score is the average of the scores obtained for each indicator.
With a score of 94.5, the University of Trento maintains, for the second year in a row, the first place in the ranking of medium-sized Italian universities, that is, with a student population between 10,000 and 20,000. The universities of Udine and Sassari placed respectively second and third. UniTrento also ranks well in the general ranking of State universities, in the third place after the University of Camerino and Politecnico di Milano.
The score achieved for the internationalization indicator, 110, is the highest among all Italian State universities and makes the University of Trento stand out. Internationalization measures the University's investment in international mobility, the number of courses taught in English, double degrees or joint degree courses, the number of international students enrolled and those who have spent a period of study abroad.
UniTrento also scored well in the categories of facilities – number of places available in classrooms, libraries and computer rooms and their level of adequacy – and communication and digital services - which evaluates university websites based on functionality and content.
Rector Flavio Deflorian expressed his satisfaction: «Our University achieved excellent positions in the Censis ranking once again, not only among universities of comparable size, but also in the general ranking. The results achieved in the area of internationalisation prove that we have a strong European and global dimension, thanks to our efforts, and that we have been able to build a solid network of academic relationships that will last over time. We are committed to continue working in this direction, to give our students an environment that offers a variety of opportunities».
